Laboratory refractometers RX series set standards

For years, ATAGO has been setting standards in laboratory refractometers with the successful “RX-i” device family. There have been some innovations since 2020. The RX-i series from ATAGO is now even more stylish and functional. Intuitive touchscreen technology makes navigation and operation amazingly easy.

In addition, the areas of application have also been expanded: Apart from stainless steel the sample stage is now also available in PTFE, PEEK or Hastelloy®. Hence, aggressive substances such as concentrated hydrochloric acid can be measured.

The RX-i series comes pre-programmed with 23 of the most commonly used concentration scales, e.g. for glucose, fructose, honey moisture, NaCl, NaOH, H2O2, ethyl alcohol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, urea and others.

All devices of the RX-i series are also equipped with an USB drive and various self-diagnostic functions. Software according to FDA regulation 21 CFR part 11 is included in the standard scope of supply.
ATAGO offers a 2-year warranty due to the excellent quality and GIMAT extends it by 1 year for all devices that have been purchased from us.

Basic model RX-5000i

The RX-5000i offers the best value for money in the class of laboratory refractometers.

Measuring range: refractive index (nD): 1.32420 to 1.58000
Accuracy: refractive index (nD): ± 0.00004 and ± 0.03% Brix.

The star among digital laboratory refractometers: RX-5000i-Plus

The RX-5000i-Plus is ATAGO´s flagship model and the most accurate refractometer in the world.

Measuring range: refractive index (nD): 1.32420 to 1.58000

The measuring accuracy of the RX-5000i-Plus is remarkably high. Refractive index (nD): ± 0.00002 nD and ± 0.010% Brix.

RX-7000i and RX-9000i: For wide ranges

The RX-7000i and RX-9000i are the wide range models in ATAGO’s RX-i series and available as alternatives to the RX-5000i and RX-5000i. The special feature: the greatly extended measuring range. Aromas, fat and oils can also be measured reliably and with high precision.

Measuring range: refractive index (nD): 1.29980 to 1.71500
Accuracy: refractive index (nD): ± 0.0001 and ± 0.1% Brix.

The RX-9000i-Plus measures with a remarkably high accuracy: refractive index (nD): ± 0.00004 and ± 0.030% Brix (up to 50%) or ± 0.050% Brix (over 50%).

Different measuring modes available

The following measuring modes are available:

Mode-1 for maximum accuracy

Displays the measurement value when the sample has reached the target temperature.

Mode-2 for quick results

Measures the refractive index and the temperature at specified intervals and then displays the calculated measurement value at the target temperature.

Mode-3 without temperature control

Provides an option to turn the thermo-module off. Without temperature control, the measurement value is displayed in 4 seconds after the START key is pressed.

Mode-S for emulsion samples

Displays the measurement value as soon as a certain level of sample stability is achieved.

Mode-T for measuring low Brix liquid samples

Only on the RX-5000i-Plus. MODE-T is recommended for users who place importance on obtaining highly repeatable results (Brix 0.001%) with low Brix samples, e.g. teas.

GIMAT has many years of experience with ATAGO devices. Our technical team has been thoroughly trained by ATAGO. As the only ATAGO service center in Germany, we are your certified service partner and gladly support you on site throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Service requests from other countries are welcome as well.
Service range includes calibration, (periodic) checking and repair of all ATAGO refractometers, e. g the RX-series devices.

  • Ergonomically Designed Layout

    The RX series was designed with ease of use in mind. The sample stage is placed on the right-side, while the buttons for operation and the LCD are placed on the left-side. This results in a distance of only 17 cm. Extensive research was performed in the design phase to ensure an ergonomic interface that made operation easy while maximizing efficiency.

  • Password Security

    The password feature allows only authorized personnel to perform certain operations. Assign a system level and password to limit each operator’s activities.

  • Resolve Measurement Value Discrepancy

    With the manual calibration feature, measurement values can be adjusted to be consistent with multiple units.

  • Reliability

    The new and advanced algorithm allows for more stable readings every time.

  • Speedy Measurement Results

    Once the sample temperature has stabilized, measurementtakes only a few seconds. Results are displayed instantly with excellent repeatability.

  • Visual "Pass/Fail" Indication

    Quickly identify if the measurement value is within the target range with the graphic display. Up to 100 sample types can be programmed to improve inspection efficiency.

  • Measurement History

    The built-in memory will instantly recall the last 500 measurement values.

  • Programmable User Scale

    Enter 3 to 5 data points of a scale, other than Brix, to directly display the concentration of specific solutions, such as DMF, and more. Save time and increase efficiency by eliminating the need to refer to manual conversion tables.

  • Rugged Metal Body

    The sturdy, yet elegant die-cast metal body protects the optical system. A special coating on the surface adds extra durability against chemicals.

  • Calibration Certificate

    A calibration certificate can be ordered with each instrument for an additional charge. Please contact your ATAGO representative for further details.

  • Wide Ambient Temperature Range

    The ambient temperature range of 5 to 40°C allows measurements in a wide range of temperature conditions.

  • Printer Connectivity

    GLP/GMP compliant – sample numbers, dates, time, measurement values, temperatures, and sample names – can be printed. Print items can be selected for customized reporting. Thermal dot or impact dot printer models available.

  • Computer Connectivity

    USB flash drive data storage capability. Data can be imported/exported on a computer through RS-232C (via USB virtual serial port) connectivity. Software is available to support your FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
